Vice President – UK MOD
Tom has worked for Rolls-Royce for nearly 23 years. His early career was spent in the future programmes department, before taking a variety of engineering roles on gas turbine engine projects for combat, trainer, helicopter and transport aircraft. During this time, he worked across the whole product lifecycle and with multiple international partners and customers.
This culminated in being Assistant Chief Engineer on the TP400 programme for five years, completing the qualification programme and taking the engine into service with multiple air forces.
Six years ago, he returned to his true calling – future programmes; leading engineering teams on a variety of international development concepts – most notably on the UK MOD’s Future Combat Air System (FCAS). He led transformation efforts to shape FCAS as the most agile and digital development programme that the UK MOD has ever seen.
Most recently, he moved into a Business Development role, defining and leading the Rolls-Royce strategy for entering the space market. This has culminated in identifying a range of disruptive technologies and capabilities to potentially help revolutionise the space market and the space economy.
Tom has a BEng from Cranfield University, an MSc from Bristol University and an MBA from Cranfield
University. He is a Chartered Engineer with the Royal Aeronautical Society.
